CHALICE plus is a congregation management system for churches, fellowships and synagogues of all sizes. Because of its low price, it is especially suited for SMALL entities. Here is a partial list of features:

Runs under Microsoft Windows®
Easy-to-use, modern interface.
Keeps track of congregation members, friends, visitors, children, and others on a household basis.

Households can have one or two adults with any combination of last names. A child can be entered in more than one household.

Prints mailing labels or listings for various categories of persons (members, friends, committee members, etc.).
Prints newsletter mailing labels.
Prints a church directory of members (other categories such as friends may be included).
Prints a telephone listing of members.
Prints a monthly report of new members joined, visitors, address changes, etc.
Displays statistics on demand (such as the number of members).
Tracks pledges and payments to a virtually unlimited number of user-defined "funds" (Operating, Building, Music, etc.). Payments may be "batched" and entered by an "envelope number" for quick entry.
Prints fund statements for all participants or just one household. Statements may be printed for late payers, on-time payers, or for everyone. Households may elect to NOT receive a statement if they wish. Statements can be printed for any range of dates. Statements can include the sum of payments or a detailed list of payments.
Prints a pledge status report.
Prints receipts for donations of $250 or more.
Provides both adult and child religious education class registration and tracking. Detailed information is kept for each child (allergies, siblings, parents, etc.)
Stores committee and organization information and allows printing of lists and labels. Stores names of persons interested in joining a committee.
Stores information on skills and occupations and allows printing of lists and labels.
Allows exporting of information to a word processor.
Records minister "events" and visitation information.
Built-in help facility..
MS Access™ can be used for ad hoc querying and reporting (I supply an MDB with tables already linked).
Multiple email address for adults ands children.
Email addresses may be exported to and imported from a text file.

CHALICE plus requires a Pentium-class PC with CD-ROM running Windows 98 or better.

BACKGROUND:

CHALICE plus was developed for a church when it became clear that there were many different sets of roughly the same data scattered around various members' PCs. There were mailing labels stored in Word Perfect, pledging data in a spreadsheet, committee information in a text file, etc. None of the management systems that were currently available seemed to fit the bill. As a result, I developed CHALICE plus. It has been in use for several years and has passed the "office administrator test"!

The development platform for CHALICE plus is Microsoft Visual Foxpro™.

CARL YAFFEY:

Carl, a 30+ year member of First UU, left AT&T Bell Laboratories (Lucent Technologies) in 1989 and has been an independent software developer since then. He has a BS degree in Computer Science from Ohio State University. Carl has developed many complex software systems for businesses in the Columbus area and references are available upon request. When Carl isn't developing software, he plays banjo with various groups and teaches banjo, guitar, mandolin, and bass.
